Racing Action At The Mint 400 | GoneCamper Van Camping

One of the advantages of van camping is the freedom to travel to FUN destinations - AND camp for FREE!

The GoneCamper Chevy Express just returned from a camping trip to the Mojave Desert in Nevada where we attended the Mint 400 off-road race. 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the Mint 400 desert race so we had to go!

There were numerous events and exhibits during the week leading up to the race on Saturday. One of the attractions was getting up close to the race vehicles on Freemont Street in Las Vegas.

The GoneCamper bed in the Chevy Express converted the basic cargo van into a comfortable, self-contained camper. Being self-contained meant that we could camp in the desert for FREE! While many race fans spent $200 or more for motel rooms, the GoneCamper allowed us to camp for free on public land - which totals MILLIONS of acres in the Southwest!

The GoneCamper full-size bed is a full 6-feet 2-inches long and runs lengthwise in the van. This is a huge advantage over building a permanent platform crosswise in the van - which would be only 5-feet 10-inches long. The bed converts to a couch during the day. And after the camping trip, the entire GoneCamper bed unit can be removed from the van in just a few minutes. Nothing is permanently installed.

The GoneCamper bed and couch conversion unit fits ALL standard vans. All that is required is 52-inches between the wheel wells. (A smaller GoneCamper conversion is available for minivans.)
